This new guide includes American history, literature, poetry and recitation for Year 2 and/or Year 3 for one year.
It differs from Program 1: Lesson Guide for Lower School B in that it is designed for Year 2 and/or Year 3 students only [Year 4 will stand-alone.] as well as having Natural History, Geography and the optional World History section removed. This makes for a less bulky and overwhelming guide. Use this guide to create your own curriculum at the website. Add in geography, World History [if you wish] and Natural History for a complete year. Years 2 and 3 share the same guide, so feel free to use it with either year or combine students in both years together.
Students will study early American History with a focus on Native Americans, the first Thanksgiving, the voyage of the Mayflower, pilgrims and the first interactions of the pilgrims with the Native Americans.
Some literature and poetry selections give students a taste of the medieval time period -one which fits within the broad scope of this study. Students will enjoy medieval legends, Norse mythology and books which feature knights, princesses, castles and dragons! Add on the medieval section of A Child's History of the World: A Guided Study for World History to fully expand on the study of this time period.
